This is an example of a conversion of a fireplace to accommodate a solid fuel stove.

The original fireplace was of sandstone but the hearth was be too small to meet fire safety standards.

So the original hearth was extended and curved to suit the stove and the insert was
also changed to Honed Ardesia Slate. The wearing properties are better than the
sandstone and the colour compliments the metalwork.
